Crack and Flaw Detection
Just as variations in material structure will influence eddy currents, physical differences in a product encountered at the surface will cause a disruption to the eddy currents. Special filtering and custom coils from Criterion NDT help improve signal to noise ratios and test sensitivity.
The crack or flaw test is a dynamic differential test in that the area to be inspected must be in motion relative to the position of the inspection probe. That is to say, the part or the probe must be in motion.
Component inspection using eddy current technology can save an incredible amount of time and money by reducing scrap material. Test times using other methods can be cut from several minutes to a few seconds.
